AN: We all know that (at least in the movie, I haven't read the books in a while) after the Wingardium Leviosa lesson in Charms, (first book) Ron insults Hermione and she goes into the bathroom and cries. But what you didn't know, is that something happened earlier that day, which made Hermione more sensitive to Ron's comments. This is what happened:
Despite what people thought about her, Hermione had friends. Four of them, in fact. She had been friends with them since grade one. She was the leader of the fivesome. The other girls looked to her for guidance, because of her wisdom and intelligence. They were all really close and told each other everything. That is, at least until Hermione got her letter of acceptance into Hogwarts. That's when the secrets started coming.
Hermione had told her friends that she was accepted to a private boarding school, and that though she didn't want to go (coughyeah rightcough) she had to. The four friends believed her, until she told them that if they were going to write to her, that they'd have to give the letters to her parents, to send to her. The four were skeptical but, nonetheless didn't say anything.
Hermione didn't get as many letters from her friends as she thought she would have. So every time she got one, she was ecstatic.
Now we will skip forward in time, to the day of the Wingardium Leviosa Charm's lesson:
Hermione had a late start that day, so she sprinted down to the Great Hall, not for breakfast, (because she wouldn't have time to eat anything anyway) but because she wanted to see if she had any mail. To her great excitement she did.
Hermione wanted to tear the letter open and read it, but she didn't have time to. In fact, she didn't have time to read it until after her rather enjoyable Charm's lesson.
When the lesson was over Hermione quickly ran out of the room, and entered an empty one, where she would have some privacy. Then, tearing the envelope open, she pulled the letter out and read:
Hello Hermione,
This is somewhat hard for me to say but...I don't think I– well all of us actually, we can't be your friends anymore. I don't know why you suddenly started lying to all of us, but we deserve better then that. We deserve better than you. Please don't think that we aren't serious, because we are. Don't write us. Don't call us. And when you return home at the end of the year DON'T talk to us or even try to attempt to see us.
Signed: Clara, Joan, Felicia, and Hally.
Hermione had to read the letter a few times before what it said, sunk in. With tears in her eyes, Hermione left the room, and started for her next class. On her way, she saw Ron, Harry, and Seamus. They were her friends right? Kind of? Possibly? She picked up her speed to catch up to them, when she heard Ron say (in a mocking tone) "'It's Levioosa. Not Leviosaa.' Geese, it's no wonder she hasn't got any friends."
'He's right. I haven't got any friend,' Hermione thought devastated. And she stormed past the group of boys and spent the next few hours in the bathroom crying.
Well that's all. Kind of depressing, I know. But she does end up being friends with Ron and Harry, so it all works out. Oh yeah, please R&R (Read and Review. Not Rest and Relax. Although you can do that to if you want). Also, please, no flames. This one shot is to short to be flamed.
