A/N: Based on the song by the same name by Within Temptation. The second part of a pair, along with Aquarius.
Mewtwo stood up atop the tallest building in Castelia City, contemplating recent events. He and Meloetta had suffered a particularly bad fight, one that would have resulted in physical violence, had he not avoided it by tempering his emotions and not reacting to her attack. Still, the fact that she, his mate, had actually struck him had left him dumbfounded.
He gazed up at the Singing Moon above him, contemplating on how much the world had changed for him, all because she had been able to unlock his heart, and given him the strength to leave his past behind him, yet she had inadvertently unleashed the very side of him that he had tried to repress. All of the fear, wrath and sorrow that he had accumulated in his younger years came bubbling up to the surface, and no matter how he had tried to fight it, his old instincts seemed to take over, causing him to reject his love. In a effort to regain control of himself and fight off the darkness in his heart, he took to wandering around Unova for a few days at a time once a month. His mate hadn't taken kindly to this, despite how he tried to explain himself. Yet he had come to realize that he was doing little more than running, and he was tired of running from his mistakes.
He was determined to fight his darker side, and so long as he had Meloetta, his siren, his angel, then nothing could stop him. He needed to make the most of what little time he still had, before she decided that she had reached her breaking point and forsaken him. Even if he had to leave in order to heal himself, he would do so in order to make things right again, like the way they were before. No matter what pain befell him, he would save their relationship, because in the end, it was the only worthwhile thing he had in his life, the only thing worth fighting for, and if there's one thing that his life had taught him, it was that pain always faded after a time.
Yet time was a precious thing, and he would have to act quickly if he wanted to achieve his goal. He treasured the beginning of his time with his mate more than anything else, and would give anything to have a time like that with her again. Despite his fears of what could happen if he truly opened up to her, Mewtwo steeled his resolve, telling himself that it was the only way to fix the problems that they faced, and that him admitting to his faults was the first step towards repairing their relationship.
He began to make his way back to their home above a small cafe that Meloetta was fond of entertaining at during the evenings, only to find the place barren of all of his mate's belongings. Even their psychic energies, the lingering testaments to their love, had been purged from the place, leaving only the impression of a powerful, angry psychic, and Mewtwo sank to the floor, dizzy and in grief, gazed through misty eyes at the point where he had last seen his angel, silhouetted against the moonlight, and as he imagined her there, standing before him, the pain was nearly overwhelming, yet again her steeled himself. If this is what it took to save their relationship, then so be it. He vowed to find her, but failing that, he vowed to do whatever it took to improve himself so that one day, he might be able to be with her someday again.
