Belief

Mohinder doesn't believe in God.

He is, after all, a man of science. He cannot bring himself to put his faith in any religion. That is not, to say, that Mohinder believes in no higher power.

Mohinder believes in going home to find Matt and Molly playing Scrabble; he believes in family dinners and taking Molly to playdates and picking her up after school. He believes in relaxing on the couch next to Matt with tea in Mohinder's hand and a beer in Matt's, watching David Letterman. His faith is placed in a cramped apartment that seems too small to even fit their three combined names- Suresh-Parkman-Walker.

Mohinder believes in a cheerleader from Odessa, Texas and a fallen politician from New York and a girl in New Orleans. He believes in two Japanese office workers with a friendship that could transcend time. He believes in a mother from Las Vegas who would give up everything for her son and a father whose love extended from beyond the grave and a little genius boy who would be the future. His faith is placed in brothers with a love that defeated memory, a niece and her uncle who would fight for the world, a pair of twins who would go through Hell for the other.

His is a religion of the spirit of a father on the wind and a waitress from Texas and a businessman from Japan. Mohinder's faith is in connections and phone lines and the past.

He believes in paintings and hiragana and a helix. He believes in fathers who were never there and mothers who go at life alone. He believes in brothers that defy blood and sisters born to different families. His churches are cubicles in Tokyo, New York apartments, trucks in Mexico.

Mohinder believes in love.
