A/N: my second - and I hope last - drabble ever. I wrote it about a year and a half ago and now think it's far too sappy, but I'm posting it anyway. I hope you like it and please review.

Admiral Janeway, her voice bearing the tears she couldn't let fall, rested her hand on the stone marker. "I know it wasn't easy living all these years without her, Chakotay, but when I'm through things might be better for all of us." She swallowed before speaking the words which represented a promise to a man she never made that one important pledge. "Trust me." And things would be better now. This time Chakotay wouldn't have to live without Kathryn, the woman, for all those lone years. And this time, she would make him that important promise and love him forever.
