I'll Always Love You, Even If I'm Not There

Disclaimer: I don't...nor will I ever...own Gakuen Alice.

I never thought Natsume would show his emotions or tell me he loved me, until I got a letter slipped under my door. It said this:

Mikan,

You know I love you,

You know I need you,

I could never forget you,

When day turns to night.

I'll always be there, when you need someone by your side,

I will protect you,

No matter the cold, dreary sight.

I'm connected to your heart,

By an unbreakable bond.

Don't forget me,

And I'll always love you.

I'll never look into your eyes,

I'll never hold your hand,

Your lips will never touch mine,

Only in your mind.

Even if I'm not there,

Even if I'm not there.

I'll always love you no matter what, and

I'll always need you no matter what, and

I'll never forget you no matter what,

Even if I'm not there,

Yes,

Even if I'm not there.

I'll feel your gaze in mine,

I'll feel the warmth of your hand,

I'll feel your lips touching mine,

Not physically, but mentally.

You will always be mine.

Even when we're separated,

I'll find myself in you.

I'll always love you,

Yes,

I'll always love you,

Don't forget,

I'll always love you,

Forever,

Yes,

Ever,

Yes,

I'll always love you,

Forever and Ever,

My dear.

Love…The true definition will never exist.

I never saw him again. Later I learned he had committed suicide to save my life. The ultimate sacrifice and he did it for me. I cried, mourning for the one I had waited my whole life to find. He was gone, and I was alone. 'He never even said goodbye' was all I could think about. This is what I thought, until I remembered the small letter that I held tightly to my chest. 'I'll always love you' was what he wrote in his small declaration of love. In a way he could see the end. He knew what was to come and he kept it a secret concealed in writing on a small, wrinkled slip of paper, which had been slide under my door, nearly a week before. He did say goodbye. He did care about my well being and he wouldn't forget. I smiled quaintly and closed my eyes and held my breath. I held onto his word with everything I had. I signed and tucked his words into the small top drawer of my bedside table. I placed it peacefully beside a small black box that was wrapped in a gold ribbon. I looked just for a moment at the fine print that was scripted on a small card taped to the box.

'To my dearest love.' Was all that it said.

I smiled again. I slide under the quilted covers of my bed. I pulled them up to my chin and I stared at the ceiling of my room. I giggled. As I rolled over to my side I whispered a quiet tiding.

"Happy Birthday my sweetest Natsume, I will always, always love you. Yes forever and ever as well my dear."
