Without Him

Author Note: Okay, all you Jemilys are going to seriously hate me after this! I want to give yougotrejected her gift for winning third in my contest, though. So...yeah. Enjoy, and don't murder me!

Emily sighed as she stared at an old picture of her and Jayden. Their arms were around each other, and they smiled for the camrea. No more pictures would ever be of them. Nothing was left. Because he was gone. It wasn't his fault. That was Decker's mission. To get the ultimante duel. Jayden won, but his wounds were too bad. A week ago from that day he'd departed from Earth. She no longer had him to love her. He was gone.

Forever.

Dead.

She teared up at the thought. Sliding the picture in her album, she laid on her bed and cried. That seemed like all she did. She'd closed herself off to the rest of the world ever since he died, and the others avoided her. They were too afraid to break her. Mentor was the only one brave enough to approach her, and all he did was bring her food. But she needed the others. This was the time she needed them most and they weren't there. That only broke her shattered heart more.

Suddenly, the door opened. She pulled a pillow over her face and moaned. She hadn't used words for a long time. Suddenly, the pillow vanished. Kind eyes stared into her sad hazels. They coco brown, beautiful and his smile was faint.

"Hey, Emily," he spoke.

Mike.

"Hey," she finally used words. Her voice was rusty from lack of use.

"I'm sorry about what happened to Jayden," she flinched at his name, "but I'm hear for you. I was a jerk when I was avioding you."

"It's okay," she sighed, "I miss him. Not having someone like him...it just rips your heart apart."

"Well, it was nobody's fault," he gathered in his arms, "we're going to make it through this. Jayden will be proud and he's going to watch."

"I just miss having a lover," she sighed, "I wish somebody else would just get me."

She looked at him and realized that she loved him, not Jayden. She kissed his lips, and she didn't come up for a long time. He allowed her to kiss him and kissed back when her lips weren't so hard against his.

"You're a good kisser," he puffed.

"Hold me," she let herself curl up in him and fall asleep.

Losing Jayden was hard. But with Mike, she'd been fine without him.
