Like You Are

By Kainen

Tell me the things that are on your mind

The ones on how to survive and to perish

To love and be loved

To look with passion at another

*

Long ago you once knew these feelings

But now your days are ashen

Burnt with contempt and brutality

You have nothing inside

*

Your soul is not there for all to see

Nor is it for you

You have sensations that pull you along

That bind with your heart and inner being

*

How can you keep it silent?

All that desolation and loathing and jealousy

You walk days and nights through the sand

Knowing it's there - this tugging

*

So when the rage consumes your mind

All you need is to release

You hate the world

Or rather, the people you see each night

*

That is why you yearn

That is why you want to draw the blood of others

Instead of your own

That is why they pay

*

They pay for your anguish

They pay for their crimes

You are the perfect disguise

Silence is your tongue; stoic is your face

*

It is your strength

Yet your source of damnation

The pain is all you feel

And the blood is all you see

*

Yes . . .your eyes say it all deep behind that cherry colour

Your true self awaits a probing eye

Perhaps you have sanity after all

Perhaps you will live
