Devil's Pride

By Kainen

Don't look at me that way

All cross-eyed and dumb

Don't start what you want to say

'cause I don't really care

Stand where you are right there and stay

'cause this'll be messy

And you don't want to pay

For what you did

So stop - walk away

*

I come and go as I please

All through the seasons

Like a summer breeze

Walking past the city

It's the sunny day that I seize

*

When finally the sun hides behind the moon

To let the Earthly night take over

I long no more for the glory afternoon

*

Along the alleyways and buildings small

Much like serpents of blackest white

To stars born of sky rise so tall

With every inch that they do appear

I wear more of night as a shawl

Searching through areas of man's last step

I answer solemnly to a the daring call

*

A veil of shadows I see you through

You don't know me

But I know you . . .
