"He's twitching." The tech frowned.

"Jordi, you have to keep still, okay?" Adam said through the intercom.

"Sorry, I'm trying. My leg hurts."

Adam muted the microphone. "How much longer?"

"Four, five minutes."

Adam flipped the mic back on. "Almost there, Jordi. Try not to think about it."

"I don't know if I can. It really hurts."

"It'll take a half hour to reset the system if we don't finish now."

"Tell me about your song."

"My what?"

"Your song. You told me in the OR that you wrote a song."

"Yeah. My abuelo had this old guitar and I taught myself to play it. I found a book about writing songs in the school library and it seemed like a fun idea."

"And you played it at school?"

"In the talent show. When I was finished everyone stood up and applauded."

"How did that feel?"

"Good. Really good. I don't really have many friends back at home. Not like really close friends that I hang out with and stuff. I kind of thought that folks didn't really notice me at all."

"I bet they did after that."

"Yeah." Jordi laughed.

"I bet the girls really noticed you." There was a pause. "Jordi, you okay?"

"Yeah. I just."

"Were you blushing?" Adam laughed.

"A little."

"Okay. I think we've got it." The tech nodded and turned off the machine.

Adam grabbed the wheelchair and went inside. "You did good, Jordi."

"Yeah."

"Yeah." Adam helped him into the wheelchair. "So are you going to sing this song for me? Or are you going to make me wait for the EP?"

"Umm, can we do it another day. I'm feeling a little barfy right now."

"Fair enough." Adam hit the button for the elevator.

"We aren't going back to the recovery room?"

"Nope. Your vitals are fine so there's no reason not to go back to your own room. But you'll have to stay in bed a bit longer okay."

"Sounds like fun." Jordi smirked.

"You get to skip school. Leo and Dash would kill for a pass on that." Adam grinned.

"Home sweet home." Jordi quipped as they reached the room.

"What's this?" Jordi was surprised when they entered the room. Before there had been almost a dividing line down the middle of the room. Leo's side was covered in posters, drawings, and such. He had books everywhere, sports stuff. It looked more like a dorm room than a hospital room. But the other side was plain and sterile.

Now, someone had hung one of those woven blankets on the wall behind the bed. And some photos.

"Oh, there you are, Jordi." The young red headed nurse, Brittany, was standing in the doorway. "I know it's not much but you needed some color."

"You did this?" Jordi asked as Adam and Brittany helped him into bed.

"Start an IV and I'll order a pain killer for Jordi's leg." Adam's phone chirped. "I have to go. I'll be by later, okay Jordi."

Jordi nodded. He let the nurse prop his leg up on a pillow, and so on. He turned his head away when she went to put the needle in. It was silly but he really didn't like needles.

"There's a bunch of stuff the nurses keep in one of the supply closets. I can bring more pictures and stuff if you want."

"Sure."

"Maybe another blanket. For your bed. Something that isn't hospital green." Brittany smiled at him. "That would be nice wouldn't it. Give it a little touch of home."

"Yeah. Thanks."

"Any time."
