Not that the episode needs it, but here's a little extra scene just for us.
It's past 6 pm on Saturday when Barry finds himself on Joe's couch, TV remote in hand and snacks on the coffee table. He doesn't feel like doing anything else. Wait, crossed that, he doesn't have anything else to do. The thought makes him smile, memories of the past week in mind. He puts down the remote and nods to himself before standing up: he knows what he wants to do with his Saturday evening.
Whoosh. Knock knock.
Barry hears footsteps behind the door and a brief pause before the door finally opens, revealing a casually-dressed Caitlin Snow holding what appears to be a scientific journal. She seems happy to see him standing in her doorway but still a little frown appears on her face.
«Barry? What are you doing here?» she asks, her eyes scanning him for any injuries. She notices the large paper bag in his arms.
«Hey,» Barry starts, only now realising he should have maybe call before showing up at her doorstep like this, «I was uh… I was about to watch some movie when I thought that, maybe, we could hang out?» He pauses a second to look at her but she only tilts her head to the side, considering his words. Of course Barry Allen has to fill up any silence. «But you may be busy, sorry, even though you don't really look that busy, but you know what I mean. » He grins a little.
«Sure.» Caitlin answers after a second. «What did you have in mind?» Her question is accompanied by a glance at the bag in Barry's arms. She moves out of the way, inviting him in.
«Oh that, yes.» Barry walks through the hallway, suddenly unsure of his idea. What if she finds him silly? Wait, no, this is Caitlin, of course she won't. Or she won't say it even if she did. He smiles to himself, his friend still behind him by the door. He turns around to face her. «I remembered what you said the other day and I thought that maybe we could not have a life together tonight.»
Her confused expression is so cute Barry pauses for suspense, enjoying the sight in front of him a little more.
«Okay, look.» His hand disappears in the bag and reappears with a little basket of vegetables like one can find in supermarkets. «I can cook and,» he puts down the basket on the living room table and takes something else out of the bag, «you can help me by reading this cooking book while I do it». Caitlin is now shaking her head with a wide smile, a little red on the cheeks. «And of course, we can eat what I made if it's any good. I'll let you taste it first though.»
Caitlin has no words for him, all she can do is look at him and wonder if this man is for real. He just offered to do every activity she had mentioned a few days ago. They share the same look they had a few days ago outside the particle accelerator, the same awkward giggles.
«Not having a life sounds really nice with you.»
