A young woman sat beneath an oak tree reading silently.
"Hinata!" called a young man, his hair the brightest yellow, and his eyes a piercing blue.
"Hey Naruto. How were morning exams?" she asked quietly. She placed a silver bookmark between the pages and closed her hard-covered book.
"They aren't too bad, but be on your toes, Hinata, you will have to fight and fight hard," he answered. She blushed and smiled.
Naruto took a seat next to Hinata on the ground under the tree. She looked away from him and blushed.
"Hinata…why are you always so quiet?" he asked her. She looked to him and said,
"I don't know. No one really notices me so, I guess I'm okay with it. I mean, I don't want a lot of attention. I just want to be a shinobi and prove to Neji that I am just as good as he is."
"Well, Hinata, I hope you succeed. I want to become Hokage and when I do, I'll make sure that you get your chance to beat Neji," Naruto said with a grin from ear to ear. Hinata grinned ever so slightly. She looked to the nearby root. Naruto took her hand subtly. She gasped and looked to him.
"Hey, Hinata, would you like to get some ramen with me?" Naruto asked. Hinata blushed and smiled.
"Sure, Naruto. I would love to," she answered quietly.
