Disclaimer: I own nothing Rent - and sadly, as much as I'd like to, I don't own Angel either. Yes. . .I'm just a wee bit obsessed with her, okay?
Angel sat up with a coughing fit in her hospital bed. Collins was sitting next to her, holding her. Angel was sweating profusely, with the aide of Collins helping to wipe it away.
"Collins," she said weakly, after her coughing fit.
"Yes, my love?" Collins asked lovingly, but with concern in his voice.
"I love you, baby, you know that, right?"
"Of course I do, I love you too." Collins answered. Angel started to shiver and Collins hugged her closer to him. "It's gonna be okay, Angel. It'll all be okay, you'll get through this." he said encouragingly, trying to hide the panic in his voice. He knew Angel didn't have very much time left, he wanted her to be happy when her life ended, even though he'd be torn up inside, he'd give anything to see his Angel happy, especially in the last moments of her life.
"In case I don't get to see Mimi again," Angel began, apparantly also knowing that her time was coming to end slowly but surely. "Tell her I love her too, like a sister." she said, snuggling her head into Collins chest.
"Don't talk like that, you're going to come through this." Collins said with false hope.
"I said 'in case' didn't I?" Angel asked saracastically. Her personality never changed - dying or not. She'd been dying her whole life. She was born into aids, did nothing whatsoever to deserve it. Her parents were to blame, mother in specific. Angel was an orpahn living on the streets by the time she was thirteen, clueless to the fact that she'd already lived about half of her life-span due to aids.
Collins had to laugh a little. "Smart ass."
"I'll take that as a compliment considering I had to drop out of juinor high school in the seventh grade!" Angel said, half jokingly.
"I'm a teacher," Collins said with a smile. "In all the time we've known each other, I've taught you enough to make up for lost schooling."
"Anarchy doesn't necassairily count as a school subject, but okay." she said smiling weakly at Collins. Collins smiled back at her, which caused her to laugh, causing her to cough again.
"Quit making me laugh - you'll suck the life out of me!" Angel said half seriously.
"That's the last thing I want to do to you, baby."
"I know. . ."
Another coughing fit began that lasted about five minutes. When the coughing fit ended Angel looked at Collins with tears in her eyes. "Kiss me," she said. "One last time."
Shortly after Collins lips sweetly touched hers, Angel's head bent back, and she was gone. Collins held her head to his and began to cry, holding her body, rocking it gently back and forth.
"Angel. . ."
