Disclaimer: I do not own CSI ... the big boys at CBS do.
A/N: Just a short something I wrote while watching season 2 a couple of days ago, thought I would share it with you all. Hope you enjoy!
Sanctuary
Sara stormed out of the crime lab, tears rolling down her cheeks. She didn't bother to stop when she knocked into Grissom and his hissing cockroaches. Grissom turned and quickly followed his lover of three years out to the car park and caught her struggling with his car door. He quickly placed his things on the back seat and pulled Sara into his arms. She fought against him and beat his chest with her small fists, but he held fast, not letting go for anything.
They had kept their relationship a secret for three years, but so many times Sara had nearly broken down because she couldn't go to him when she needed to because others were around. But now, Grissom found himself not caring who found out about them, all that mattered was Sara.
Once she calmed down, she whispered something about wanting to go home to Grissom. He obliged and got in the frivers seat. He would call the university and put off his lecture and stay home with Sara, because he was what she needed, not an empty house. She held his hand the whole way to their townhouse and went straight to the bedroom to curl under the sheets and cry. Grissom joined her shortly and pulled her into his arms, whispering words of love to her all the time. Eventually, she calmed and Grissom couldn't think of what had caused her to become in such a state.
"Sara, what happened?"
"Nothing, I'm fine."
"Sara, talk to me. What happened?"
"A box of old cases was brought up to us and the guys were flicking through them and my file came up."
"Which one, Sara?"
"The rape two years ago."
"Honey," Grissom tried to comfort her.
"They all know. Nick and Catherine were firing questions at me and I couldn't take it any more. I kept feeling him touch me and remembered the pain. I just had to get to my sanctuary."
"I'm here now honey, nothing is going to happen ever again. He's gone now. Dead."
"I know Gil. But I feel as if it was yesterday. I don't want to go back to the way I was afterwards."
"You won't Sara, I promise. I'm here. I'll send the file back, there is nothing we can add to it."
"What about the guys?" Sara asked in a hushed voice.
"Tell them what you wish, I'll be there with you."
"Can we tell them about us?"
"Grissom nodded. "But for now, we rest. I won't leave you and there is no need to go to work until you feel better." Grissom pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Your sanctuary will always be here whenever and wherever you need it. I love you Sara."
"I love you too Gil." Sara closed her eyes and thought only of Gil, hoping beyond hope to push away the nightmares that were to come.
Finis.
