The Idea
Mr Schuester being the first to arrive in the new directions choir room was never a good sign. It meant he had a plan and, as much as the glee club appreciate Mr shue's input, his plans usually resulted in the group performing forty year old show tunes. The kind of songs that only Rachel Berry had ever heard of before.
'New Directions need money Mr Schuester announced once nearly everyone was seated.
'What are we going to do about that?' asked Mercedes 'Run another bake sale?'
'Oh yeah, because we all know how well that went' said Quinn looking pointedly at Puck.
'No, This time we are going to do something different, something that this Glee club was always meant to do. We are going to perform a musical' Mr Schuester's excited proclamation was met with unexcited muttering.
'Mr Shue remember last time we tried to do a school production? It was fun and all but performing in front of no audience because our school didn't approve of our performance was a little weird.' Everyone nodded in agreement with Finns statement.
'This time it will be different. It won't be a school thing this time, so we won't have the same problems we did with Rocky. And I've already picked out a musical that's both fun and suitable for all ages.'
Quinn glanced down at the script Mr Shue had just handed her. 'Singing in the rain? Again? Mr Shue we did this with Ms Holiday. Can't we move on to something new?'
'Yeah, I want to do something I can get a good role in. Why don't we do Chicago?' Mercedes' suggestion was met with an excited response from some of the girls.
It was at this moment that Rachel stormed into the room, covered from head to toe in a combination of red, blue and green slushees.
'The traffic light, nice' Puck whispered under his breath.
'Somebody please help me clean up' Said Rachel, unusually close to tears.
Mr Shue noticed she seemed more upset then she usually did after being slusheed. "what happened Rachel?"
'It was that hateful Karofsky', She said, Obviously fighting to hold back sobs, 'I guess now that Kurts gone he has no-one to pick on. Somehow he found out about my having two Dads and now im the target'
Everyone was silent, Karofsky was a bully but picking on Rachel because of her parents was taking it to far. There were plenty of other things to pick on Rachel for.
'He said I was faggots spawn and the world would be better of if I wasn't in it' Rachel said quietly when no-one responded.
'That's it!' Mr Shue's Anger was so rare and so sudden that everyone gasped. 'I've had it with this! Students need to stop bullying kids for things they have no control over. Kurt left because of it and now they've moved on to Rachel. Forget Singing in the rain, we're going to do a musical that'll teach people about acceptance.'
'Rocky again?' sniffed Rachel.
'No, I know something even better.'
