David Hodges scrunched up his nose as Greg Sanders walked into the trace lab.
"Hey, Hodges," Greg cheerily said, deliberately ignoring Hodges' sign of disgust.
"What do you want?" Hodges asked. He turned away from Greg, typing something into the computer he stood over. He didn't want to deal with Greg right now, especially since he had been dreaming about the younger man a lot lately, and it was too much to deal with to actually have Greg standing in front of him in the lab.
"Why are you being snide?" Greg jumped up on the edge of one of the tables.
"You're not a lab tech, anymore. You can't abuse our property." Hodges stopped in mid type, and went over and swatted Greg's knee. Did Greg have to look so hot in his skinny jeans, and plain black t-shirt? Hodges was a little sad that the t-shirt didn't actually have any words, he secretly seeing Greg's weird shirts.
Greg jumped down off the table. "You're grumpy today." He frowned a little at Hodges, usually Hodges was a little snarky but today he was seemed downright mean and uncaring.
Hodges sneered at him. He went back to his work. He hoped Greg would leave because he knew Greg didn't have any evidence for him to process. He wasn't even sure why Greg was here today, as he was supposed to off today.
Greg walked over to Hodges, peering over his shoulder.
Hodges turned to him, "What are you doing here anyway?" He glared at Greg, trying to pretend to still be pissed at the world though all he wanted to do was play with Greg's hair.
"I knew it was your birthday, I wanted to give you a present." Greg walked out of the lab; he came back a few seconds later with a shiny ebony metallic wrapped package. He had left it in the hallway, so Hodges wouldn't see before he should. Greg left it on one of the tables. "Obviously you aren't in the mood to talk to people, Happy Birthday." Greg gave Hodges a half smile to show he respected that fact Hodges seemed to want to be alone today.
Hodges ignored the package for an hour, he felt guilty that he had been mean to Greg. Stupid dreams making him feel awkward around Greg.
Finally, the package was taunting to Hodges, and he had to go over and see what it was. He opened the package carefully, and felt like someone punched him in the stomach when he opened the book. It was a Love Connection board game, one of the ones Greg knew that Hodges didn't have in his collection.
