I.

Breathe. In and Out.

Blink. Breathe again.

"Cammie." The voice was soft.

"Grant,' I greeted, tears stinging my eyes.

"It's only been a few months, Cammie. He'll be back."

II.

The thunder rumbled and I pulled the covers more tightly around myself.

Empty, that's how I felt.

But no one understood.

Except Grant.

He answered on the third ring. "Hello?"

"I need you."

III.

His lips burned a trail down my body. The million different emotions merged together and caused me to moan.

Grant thought it was from pleasure.

I knew it was from defeat.

IV.

It felt so good, but it was so wrong.

Zach had been gone for almost a year, though, and Grant never left for more than a week.

He loved me.

And I had learned to love him.

Our bodies merged together and I cried out in pleasure.

That's when I heard the door to the apartment open. "Cammie?"

My husband was home.

Grant and I disentangled ourselves and threw on as much clothing as we could. I pulled on my bra, panties, and Grant's T-shirt. He pulled on his boxers and jeans.

Zach came into the bedroom.

The pain in his eyes haunted me for years.
