I woke up the next morning to the sound of rain. Typical. In Forks it was like an ongoing storm, without the thunder. I got up and went to the window, and sure enough rain was pouring. I hoped it would stop before my "date" with Jacob.
I didn't have any plans today after school, just the usual washing dishes and such. Charlie never got around to those kind of things before I came back to Forks. He was only worried about more important things.
I crossed my bedroom floor and walked to the bathroom. I needed to take a shower before school. I smelled wet, and gross. The bathroom door was closed. Usually I had the house to myself in the mornings, because Charlie went to work really early. I decided to knock on the door just in case.
"Yes," Dad called from inside the bathroom. "Bella, honey, I'm not going to make work. I feel terrible."
"Oh Dad! Do you want me to skip school? I can stay here and take care of you," I couldn't hide the worry in my voice. Charlie never got sick, let alone miss work because of it.
"No, Honey, I'll be just fine on my own. I can take care of myself you know." He was smiling now. He was always amused by how much I take care of him.
"Well, do you need me to skip my date tonight? It's really no trouble."
"No." He said firmly.
"Okay." I frowned.
