Japan walked along the corridors of the World Centre lost in thought over the world meeting he had just attended. The meeting had been completely normal; well… when he said normal what he meant was normal for a world meeting. As usual Germany had taken control of the proceedings, the only contribute Italy made was to shout "pasta" with a faraway look on his face and England and America had continued to flirt. They are so obvious Japan thought to himself, a couple of the countries had started to take bets on when the two would finally get together, whilst others had even gone so far to say they already had. However, the number of countries betting on that was small anyone who knew America knew that he would tell anyone who listened as soon as England agreed to go on a date with him. England luckily, Japan thought is not so boastful. Japan felt something brush against his shoulder, looking up he said "Sorry, Mr America I did not see you there" bowing his head at the other nation "It's quite alright" the other nation replied in a voice which was far too timid to belong to Mr America, Japan thought. "Oh" Japan said "You're not Mr America?" he asked the other nation "No, no I am Canada, his younger twin brother" replied Canada. "I must say Canada it is very nice to meet you, I am Japan by the way" he said introducing himself "I am sorry about confusing you with your brother, it's just that you look so much like him, but I see now you are nothing alike" Japan said bowing his head apologetically. "That's OK Japan that happens a lot. I'll take that as a compliment, I'm sure the world doesn't need two Americas" Canada said with a smile and a look of dread on his face. "No. I would not like to think about it" Japan replied.
Neither of them noticed how much time had passed since they had begun talking, they walked towards the library having discovered they shared it as a refuge after the world meetings. "You know Canada I am surprised we have not met before" Japan remarked , he didn't usually like someone being so close to him, but with Canada he found it easy, reassuring even. "I don't like talking much in front of people" the other nation admitted shyly clutching to polar bear teddy he was carrying "Oh" Japan replied at a loss for what to say. It wasn't something he normally did, but he found himself pulling the other nation in for a hug. After a few seconds the awkwardness began to lessen and both nations began to relax. Pulling away Canada smiled shyly at Japan "Thank you" he said "It is not often that someone pays attention to me" he admitted. The two of them were still incredibly close "You are most welcome Mr Canada" Japan replied, looking at the other nation's eyes, which were so like his brother's and yet completely different. Canada tilted his head towards Japan's who was suddenly very nervous. Japan sighed as the other nation's lips touched his. After several seconds the two pulled away, neither country knowing quite what to say. After a few moments Japan found his voice again "Would you like to go on a date with me, Mr Canada?" he asked before he lost the confidence to do so "I would like that very much" Canada replied.
