Starjay's POV
Blue Eyes. These are the same blue eyes I've been staring into every morning for the last sixteen years. These are the eyes of my little half-sister, Prismatic Butterflies. I, Starjay Sparkle, have been caring for her ever since her mother, Rarity, passed away. I was 4 when this occurred. She was a newborn, of course, and never got to know her mother. We've always been really close, even if we are barely related. Our 2nd mother, Fluttershy, moved away to Celestia knows where, and left us in the hooves of my alicorn mother, Princess Twilight Sparkle. We never have known why our shared mother, Fluttershy left, or where she went. Since I was born to Fluttershy, and wasn't considered royal, so I never ended up stuck living in a castle with ponies waiting on me horn and hoof. Now, to begin the story on why our shared mother left.
Prism's POV
16 years. I went 16 years without my sister or I knowing an important, and I mean important secret. We were always close as can be. We never cared that we weren't fully related, even if we didn't look it. We always acted it. My parents, well, I never really knew my parents. This is why we didn't find this out until almost 2 decades into her life and about 1.6 into mine. It was an average day in Ponyville Kingdom, Princess Twilight's section of Equestria.
"Sparkie, are you sure they're ok?" "Prism darling, don't stress so much. Your outfits for the clients are quite alright. Nopony's pets will be freezing this winter" "Thanks Starry, but I can't help but feel they need a little something…" "Hello. How may we help you?" Starry said as her and I stared at the strange mare. She looked quite similar to myself, except for her hair. "Do I know you?" I asked, trying to figure out who this strange pegasus was. "Not as far as I know. I need you to have a look at my butterfly." "Oook. Right this way." Starry said. I gave her our look of confusion. She mouthed back 'I don't understand either. We'll figure this out later.' I began to hang little pet sweaters up on the rack in the boutique as my sister consulted with her new client. Little did we know, she would change our lives forever.
After Sparkie finished with her client, Quartz Heart, she came to see my boutique. The Quartz bought a pair of butterfly style wing mittens from me. Evidently, she likes plaid. My kitten, Merle, and my sister's dog, Mayzie, were my featured models. We were coming out with the Spring has Sprung line in our next catalog. So Merle, an oddly cooperative, spoiled kitten, and Mayzie, a playful puppy, were caught in the middle of it. Merle always wore a scarf when we had pet playdates upstairs in the penthouse. Most of the shopkeepers lived upstairs, right above their shops. Zap Apple, a pegasus colt who ran the Sweet Apple Supermarket, came over with his falcon, Hunter, all the time. The poor bird had wing mittens in every color of plaid that had even seen my sewing machine. Pumpkin Cheesecake, an earth pony friend of mine, owned a bunny named Creampuff. The little bunny was probably the most intelligent animal assistant I've ever seen! For pony's sake, the animal could read! We were to soon find out a secret about Quartz and I that was kept by keeping 2 fillies across town from one another.
