U.C. 0079 - Recollections in Low Earth Orbit [PROLOGUE]

A Mobile Suit Gundam Fanwork

The eternal night that stretches without end, space, looms all over everything. But displayed in front of me like a sore thumb was a sphere of what can be best described as blue, green, and white. The famed Earth, home of that new goddamn mobile suit. In the few weeks after I left, target Trojan Horse made a nigh impossible descent into Earth from space and fucked up everything up. Now the real nightmare begins, recovery of all Zeon forces deployed to Earth.

How the fuck was anybody going to do that? We don't have enough of anything, the MLVs are just sitting ducks in orbit, and the cowardly bastards of the EFSF only now show themselves from Luna II and Jaburo. My last instructor taught that it was only a matter of time before Zeon collapsed, but yet he still soldiered on, and so will I. The last I heard of him, he died while fighting that piece of shit gundam with nothing but a grenade, heroic, but his status and politics probably had something to do with his death.

But sitting in this experimental panoramic cockpit in low Earth orbit does have it's ups and downs, whenever I look down at the Earth, I get all philosophical and have all these thoughts about the state of humanity as a whole, and more often than not, I'm overtaken by the ghosts of the fading past.

So thinking back, how the fuck did I go from the run of the mill air cavalry trooper carrying nothing but a rifle and equipment for defence purposes into a ace special forces Zeon mobile suit pilot operating a highly experimental unit?
