Disclaimer: I do not own Assassin's Creed; this belongs to Ubisoft. I do, however, own the plotline.

Leonardo da Vinci hurries around his workshop, trying to find where he had put his favourite red paint. There is suddenly a couple quick knocks on his front door and someone walks inside, allowing a small breeze to mess up some of the papers strewn about and for some fresh air to sneak into the usually dingy office.

"Hello? Leonardo?" Leonardo pokes his head up from the position on the floor he had been in, looking wide-eyed over a small table to his friend. Ezio looks over to where Leonardo's face is hovering behind papers and books upon the table, and he leans against a wooden pillar with his arms crossed and an amused expression upon his face. Leonardo blushes slightly as he realizes how odd this looks and he hides his face, which has some paint upon his nose, forehead, lips and one of his cheeks, until only his eyes are visible.

"Having fun down there, Leo?" Leonardo smiles a bit as the younger man uses one of his favourite nicknames. Standing up, Leonardo brushes himself off, and his smile grows slightly.

"Yes, yes, I am…I'm just having troubles finding a tube of red paint…" Ezio raises an eyebrow and slowly walks to the opposite side of the table from where Leonardo is rambling about what he had been doing, and picks up a small tube and holds it up for the artist to see. Leonardo slowly trails off from what he was saying and stares intently at the tube of red paint, then gives a nervous chuckle. Ezio cracks a smile and places it in his friend's hand, then looks at the painting that Leonardo is working on. He blinks a few times, then throws an arm over Leonardo's shoulders and pulls him towards his side, waving his other arm in the direction of the painting.

"Leonardo, this painting….assolutamente bello!" Leonardo flushes at his friend's praise, and smiles shyly, touching a finger to the red of the angel's cape. He looks down beaming at the painter, and blinks a few times in confusion, his smile slowly disappearing.

"Leo, what's the matter? You seem flushed, are you sick?" Leonardo backs up a few paces, bumping into his small table and making the objects on top of it to fall down or off the table itself.

"Nothing is wrong, Ezio, I promise." Ezio nods his head slowly, a frown on his face, and looks like he does not believe Leonardo.

"Bene. I need to leave now, I was just stopping in to say hello." The two of them hug swiftly, and the youthful assassin makes his way out of the workshop. Leonardo sighs deeply and drops the tube of pain the was still holding, and slides to the ground heavily. He looks down at his hands and smiles a wan smile, wishing that the assassin would only see him, the way he saw him.

"Ezio, mio amico, I wish you could know…" There is a noise in the room, and Leonardo looks up, shocked, to see Ezio holding a hand towards him. Leonardo takes it and is gently put right on his feet once more. Ezio smiles at him.

"I may be young, Leo, but I am not stupid." He places a comforting hand on the artist's shoulder, "I cannot feel that way for you, my friend. But always know that you can always call on me if you need my assistance." With that, Ezio leaves Leonardo once more, but this time the painter smiles and looks back to his painting, cocking his head to the side. He may not be able to have the mutual love with the assassino, but he knows that he will always love him, and that they would always be there for each other, and that is all that matters. Leonardo smiles from ear to ear, and points at his painting.

"Eureka! I shall call you Annunciation!"
