Kingdom Hearts

I. [Tōya falls into an alternate reality] (200 words)

Light. Colors. Memories.

An explosion of senses blind me.

Feathery light filters through a mosaic circular window, setting the chapel on fire. Trials and tribulations of a fledgling Keyblade Master – multiple Keyblade Masters – Keyblade War decimating thousands of Keyblade wielders from existence.

A shooting star. Two boys and one girl on a mountain.

Three soldiers clad in armor from head to toe glisten gold under the dying sunset. Keyblades are drawn, brandished for battle – an epic fight fated to become a tragedy.

Dust clouds shroud their opponent until the air clears. An old, hunched man approaches and a dark figure flanks his mentor's shadow. A master and his apprentice; a terror of my past and nothingness.

A setting sun. Two boys and one girl on an island.

The contrasting, imposing images play (the beginning of the end) back and forth, striving to deliver a message, a voiceless plight for help.

Treading on broken glass, I fall into disintegrating shards of a mirror. The starlight reflecting shines superficial hopes and incomplete promises, each plasmic fragment representing an individual distant world.

I reach out, angry and desperate and wanting.

This is not over. My story is not over. We are not over.

II. [Zenshin bids farewell to an old friend] (100 words)

Darkness incarnate stood at the threshold of divine doors.

He paused for a heartbeat, daring to look back. Snowy evergreen surrounded the glowing recesses of a forbidden kingdom. This humanoid shadow knew he won't see a gentle smile, won't see aqua eyes look to him with the kind of tender devotion he reserved for his closest friends.

Lost memories chained the Keyblade Master to sweet slumber, an islander now a slave to eternal light.

"Take care of her," he told him, before he broke his heart.

He closed the door and threw away the key.

Somewhere inside the lock turned.

III. [Neo endures an eternity of heartbreak] (200 words)

History dictates devastation.

Since the beginning of time, Sie had been there.

Sie had felt the selfish clash of Keyblades tear hearts apart in their lust for power. Humans fought for Hir, fought to control Hir legendary Keyblade, thousands of lives bought for the right to rule Hir.

Heartbreak shatters Hir beloved weapon into wayward winds by Keyblade War's end. Seven hearts of pure light – of warriors and princesses alike – protect the realm from thirteen pieces of darkness, which dwell within the shadows of people's hearts. Fear drove Hir to retreat from human reach, into the frozen river of deceased memories.

Tragedy did not stop there. Destinies intertwine throughout generations.

Sie could only witness pragmatism pit two halves of a whole against each other while descending from sunset-lit horizons, could only watch a single man possess another to continue the chain of immortality. Once in a blue moon that same man has beckoned Hir doors open, cleansing the fallen twice and escaping the cruel encodement of data so scathed that ultrasonic wavelengths carry Hir shriek within inevitable silence.

Those lost souls who are thrown into the hands of fate wish to be free of their pain, and so does Sie.

"Sora..."
