Author's Note: Something a little darker for CCS…
She hates it when he calls her that.
Her face will flush red – up from her neck to her ears as her bright green eyes narrow dangerously. Tiny, dainty hands clench into fists and depending on her mood, time of day or star alignment her mouth will curve into a scowl, straighten into a flat line or go round as she howls in outrage. Her feet – encased in roller blades, shoes or slippers will ram into his shins or grind into his toes.
The little stuffed toy will look over from his food or his video games and snigger while the angel will look over and raise an eyebrow in mild irritation. His father would look over his paper and he'd simply roll his eyes, stick his hand in his pockets and stroll off while tossing a snarky comment over his shoulder. She'll fume and rant about it for awhile before brightening up and moving on.
And though he is no longer able to see what she's doing, where she's going he nevertheless waits for her to come home. He listens to her crawl back into bed and whisper her goodnights to Kero and Yue and her cards. The following morning he'll watch carefully for bruises or sprains and will let her have some of his coffee to get her started for the day. He'll grumble of course, can't let her think he's going soft.
Before he gave his powers away to help her, back when he could see, he remembers his visions after he found up what Sakura was up to. He knew that she was strong, knew that she was capable but he still follower her and watched until she started home. It worries him to no end about what she will become. It's too much for a thirteen year old, she shouldn't have to deal with all this weird earth-endangering magic tricks.
Touya knows that her dijin are loyal to the death, that her tarots are always eager to be commanded and her consort – the Brat- is willing to serve. But he also knows how much she loves things, when she decides to love she loves completely and without abandon. This worries him because sometimes she gets hurt and she shatters into a million little pieces. She picks herself up though and he frets because someday she won't be able to.
He's never told anyone, but back when he could see he saw terrible things. Something could happen; probably would happen and it would not be good. Someday his beloved baby sister would break and there would be no turning back. He's not entirely sure where this lean, cruel and green eyed monster will appear from with her companions at her beck and call, only that her wrath will be terrible upon those whom she seeks vengeance.
Touya worries because he knows that when stars die then don't just fade out of existence for dissolve into thin air. They bring everything down with them when they fall from heaven or collapse into themselves. He knows that Sakura is growing up and that she won't depend on him like she does right now. So he teases and watches and loves her. She's his little sister and he's supposed to protect her.
He hopes it'll be enough.
