Leaf stared up at the sky serenely. She hadn't been able to do this for a while, so she was focusing all of her attention on the clouds. Her Jigglypuff purred and snuggled up to her. Leaf smiled, and stared up at the clouds.
"Ya know, I guess taking a break from adventuring around Kanto can be good once in a while. When you're off adventuring you usually don't take the time to relax and stare up at the clouds." Leaf said absentmindedly. With all her attention focused on the clouds, she didn't notice that Blue had come and sat down next to her.
"So you're back in Pallet Town, huh?" He asked her.
"Huh? Oh! Ya, I just got back from Johto." She said, slightly surprised that he had noticed her lying in the grass. It had been a while since they had talked, so she was slightly worried that he wouldn't recognize her.
"Ya, it's just like you to come home after exploring a new region. Wouldn't want to worry anyone right?" He teased her.
"Ya… Hey, so what have you been up to lately? I thought I had seen you on TV, but I wasn't sure." She teased back.
He laughed and said, "I knew you'd see that." She blushed at his comment and sat up.
"So what were you on TV for? Was it just an interview, or did something important happen?" She asked, slightly curious that he had remembered that specific appearance.
"Something important. I've been appointed as the Gym Leader of Viridian City." He answered.
"Cool! So I guess you've improved a lot since I left, huh?" She asked, curious about his new position. It had been a while since they had beaten the Pokémon League, and she was wondering if he had improved any.
"Yep. I suppose this means you want to battle me?" He asked, knowing her answer would be yes. Leaf never turned down a Pokémon Battle, even if the odds were stacked against her.
"Of course! Should we start now, or do you need some time to prepare?" She responded, eager to start the battle.
"I never need time to prepare." He said, and with that the battle began…
