Max P.O.V.

No one deserved this. Not even me. Even though I have done some really terrible things in my life, surely my punishment couldn't be this horrible.

I stared at his blonde hair, falling down in waves. I imagined his sparkling turquoise eyes staring into my eyes, not the dark brown eyes of the mocha skinned girl that was also my best friend, Nudge.

Dylan abruptly turned around, waving at Nudge and heading back towards me.

"How'd it go?" I asked, managing a weak smile.

"Fantastic! Max, you are the best," Dylan replied, "I can't believe I finally talked to her." He looked back at Nudge with those love struck eyes, and I tried my best to hold in my barf.

"Good to hear," I told him, "So, anyway, where is this friend of yours?"

"He should be here soon. Actually, we should probably hide, seeing as it is a surprise party and all!" he cried, as if suddenly remembering the entire purpose of the party.

He probably did just remember, I thought bitterly. Too busy talking with Nudge.

Everyone was beginning to hide, so I quickly scuttled underneath the dining room table. Suddenly, a resonating dong filled the air. I heard a few people giggling, and I crouched down, getting ready to jump up. I heard Dylan opening the door.

"Hey man, what's up? Just come over to the kitchen to help me grab some snacks, and then we'll watch those movies," Dylan said. Silence followed, so I assumed the guy had just nodded in response.

I heard Dylan opening the kitchen door, so I jumped up as quickly as I could and yelled, "Surprise!" Immediately I saw the dark-eyed, black-haired boy standing at the door. He didn't even seem to flinch when everyone jumped out.

"Come on, Fang! How could you not have any reaction? I was expecting it, and I almost peed myself!" Dylan exclaimed.

Fang rolled his eyes at his friend and quickly scanned the room. His eyes connected with mine for what seemed like a longer time than with the others. He seemed to smile a little, and I smiled back, trying to seem like the kind person that I really was not.

Dylan steered Fang around the room, introducing him to people that he didn't know. Finally, he came to me.

"This is Max, one of my best friends," Dylan said.

Well, he might as well have punched me in the gut.

I extended my arm towards Fang. "Nice to meet you." He grabbed my hand and shook it, giving me that smirk again. I held my tongue, trying not to comment on his behavior. Obviously, I failed. "Are you always this silent? And condescending? God, that smirk will not win you any dates." I huffed in annoyance.

Fang's eyes showed shock before he quickly morphed back to his no-emotion-because-I'm-much-too-cool face. "I like you, Max."

Dylan looked back and forth between me and Fang, giving us weird looks. "Aaaanyway," he said, breaking the awkward silence. "Let's go meet other people," he told Fang, pushing him away again.

I stared at the back of Fang's black shirt. Great, another boy that infuriates me. How exciting. My life just seems to be getting better and better.

Yay, tell me what you guys thing. Personally, I really like this story. Please comment; I would highly appreciate it!
