Note: Atlantis!AU

Lorcan could only look at the destruction before him. It all was so surreal to see the structures he knew and loved beginning to crumble.

The panicked screams and shouts of the people of their home filled Lysander's ears. He had no doubt that his family were looking for him. Lorcan knew how to slip away from them easily enough. Lysander was more attached to their mother's hip, and their father's attention span was more sporadic than a baby eagle's flying course. Not that he could blame him of course, given the many discoveries Atlantis had yet to uncover.

Another rumble broke Lorcan out of his thoughts; there goes another building. Surely the pillars etched in the gods' bones could hold up better than this? There wasn't a battle to cause the damage, yet Lorcan was watching the fall of his home.

He should have been more afraid, running for his life. Yet Lorcan could only stare in the distance of an untouched area as others did the running. His friends would slap him when they heard of this.

Lorcan couldn't be bothered right then. He wanted to study every inch of the city that he could. The vibrant colors of the orchids surrounding homes, the paths etched in gold, the pristine carvings of the gods...all of it needed to remain perfect in his mind before they drifted into waters unknown.

The beauty of his home had to be reserved. As a teenager, Lorcan was no fool. He had to get back to his family soon or there would be much worse than the Underworld in his fate. Lorcan shook his head as a single tear trailed from his cheek on the hill; his life was changing quickly.

Then his body geared into autopilot, and his feet found their way to dart for the direction of the cottage his family owned. Lorcan couldn't help but find that funny; they were considered odd, but were the most safe given the distance the cottage held.

Another rumble of the earth made Lorcan nearly fall in his run, but he was caught by the hands of his twin, who looked rather annoyed at him.

"Do you not see what's going on out there?" Lysander demanded.

Lorcan shook his head. "I'm blind," he drawled in a sarcastic tone. "Where's Mother and Father?"

Lysander gave him a glare before pulling him along. "They're safe on the platform, having been fully prepared in case of crisis. I volunteered to come get you."

"I'm flattered."

"Don't be. Mother's still going to feed you to the sea creatures once things clear."

Lorcan sighed. He expected as much. "Does anyone know what's causing our home to fall? Is the platform safe? What will become of us?"

Lysander shook his head with a frown. "No one knows. We're not under attack yet things are falling apart at the cracks. The platform is on the next island and it's stable. The bridge is going to be cut down after the last person makes it. After that...we just have to start over."

Lorcan didn't say anything. Nothing was making sense, not even the platform anymore. Starting over was going to hurt many people, him included. The only thing that comforted him was the picture of Atlantis he made in his mind before it started to sink into waters unknown. Through the many questions plaguing his conscious, one thing was certain. He would miss his home dearly.
