"What is that?" Sherlock looked disapprovingly at the white furry thing that John carried in his arms.
"Well", John replied, "deduce it."
Sherlock raised an eyebrow and put down his mobile. "It's a cat."
"Very good, Sherlock. How did you manage to get this one?" John laughed and put the little animal down. At once it speeded under the sofa and began to purr.
"But...why?" Holmes sprang from the sofa and moved to the big armchair lifting his legs from the ground. "Why a cat? Why not a hamster or a mouse? Are you that lonely? A parrot would have been a better deipnosophist."
John sighed. Sherlock at his best again, he thought. "It's a gift.",he began to explain sitting down on the opposite of his flatmate. "From Harry. She bought it a few weeks ago and now she wanted to get rid of it because it scratched at all the curtains and wallpapers. And have you ever seen an animal shelter from inside. No one should have to live there."
"So... it wasn't a gift. " Sherlock concluded. "You saved the thing. And now I have to live with it in my flat."
"In our flat. And you'll see, it will be easy. Our wall has already been shot at. A few scratches won't matter that much, will they."
Sherlock looked proudly at the wall behind the sofa counting the holes again.
"Maybe you can keep it.", he murmured. "But if it find it playing with my pieces of evidence I will personally"
"Yeah, yeah. I don't think anyone or anything would ever go near your evidence." John crouched down in front of the sofa and tried to lure the cat out.
