5th fic in my series of Kad x Juu fics. This is angst filled...

Silence

Silence. He hated it. He felt long, silky hair drape around his body, followed with arms, and chin, and chest. He hated silence because he always thought of death. Then he thought of his blindness.

Then he thought of Kazuki.

"What's wrong, Juubei?" he asked, tightening his grip around the man. Juubei raised his hands to touch the Fuchoin's worried face.

"Gen – san said my case is hopeless."

Kazuki's grip now loosened. He slowly let go of his blind protector, and sat himself down in disbelief. Juubei heard the sound of dripping. It sounded similar to rain, but much louder. He raised his hands once more to touch the brown haired boy's face. It was wet.

"Why are you crying for me?" he asked, wiping the man's tears away, like he had many, many years ago.

"Because...now you can't ever...see...anything..." he choked in between sobs. Juubei's muscular arms crept its way around the crying boy, and almost squeezed hard enough to squeeze the tears out of him.

"Is that a bad thing? After all, I deserve this punishment." He stated roughly, ruffling the boy's long, brown hair. He nodded.

"Of course it's a bad thing," he shouted. "Because I want you to see me again!"

"Why?" he asked, this time more sternly. Another silence was formed.

Juubei grit his teeth.

"I'm supposed to be protecting you," he whispered, "And here you are, protecting me. Why, Kazuki?"

"...because that's what friends do, Juubei."

He let go of the boy, setting him down on his knees. Even though he couldn't see, he could tell that his friend was smiling. At least on the inside.

"I don't want to be your friend, Kazuki. Because to me you're...you're much more than that."

"Then what do you want me to be?"

Without any warning, Juubei had already grabbed Kazuki into his arms once more. Without any warning, Kazuki had begun to cry again, his tears staining his protector's clothes.

"I want you to be happy."

Kazuki wiped his tears. "But I am happy," he replied. "Because I can stay here with you...like this."

Another short silence formed, and then paused. It was then that Juubei realized that silence wasn't always a bad thing.

I think I ate too much Angst Candy...Man, this was soooooooo short...2 pages long...a new record for crappimess...
