Padfoot and Friend

"Good Lord, they are always so close ya'd think there was a Permanent Sticking Charm on 'em, hey?" laughed Sirius, as he sat on the grass beside the lake watching two of his best friends giggling and whispering. Agnes flicked her long, shiny blonde hair back behind her. "Rather over there than right near us. We don't want 'em snogging all over us!" she laughed.

"Oh, joy of joys, look who's coming. Ah, Snivillus!" Sirius called to the lanky, hook-nosed and greasy haired boy walking along the lake, scowling at the happy couple.

"Studying for NEWTs already, Snivillus?" Sirius taunted. Snape ignored him.

"Aw, c'mon, no fun!" yelled Sirius. "Ah, too lazy to go after him," he added, turning to Agnes. "Hey, c'mon, let's get out of here; I just had an idea."

He grabbed her by the hand and pulled her up. They were inches apart for a few moments before Sirius pulled back and yelled, "Come on!" Agnes wasn't quite sure of the emotion she'd just felt, but she knew, whatever it was, she shouldn't have be feeling it for her best friend. Instead she raced after Sirius shouting, "What the hell?"

He waited for her to catch up. "Ok, I had a thought. Slughorn has been taking the mickey out of me lately for God knows what, that pompous old fart, and I want to get him back. So, here's what we're going to do..." Agnes' smile got wider and wider as Sirius whispered the details of his plan. Her bright blue eyes flashed with excitement. "Bring it on."

That night, they 'borrowed' James' cloak and snuck out into the night. They had spent the entirety of the afternoon planning and preparing for this; nothing could go wrong.

Slowly they descended the stairs to the dungeons where the Potions classrooms were. Here, they hid the Cornish pixies they'd bought from Sean O'Riley in Hufflepuff inside each of the desks. Then Agnes produced a huge box and placed it on Slughorn's desk.

"He'll certainly get a fright when he opens that," Agnes giggled. The box held a note that read simply, 'Prof. Slughorn-with love'. Inside a boggart lay in wait to scare the living daylights out of whoever opened it.

"Ya know, this is really cool, pranking with you," Sirius whispered, smiling. "I really like you, ya know." His expression had changed; his smile was no longer one of excitement, but one of uncertainty and even a little nervous. Agnes knew exactly what he meant. Sirius stared into her eyes for a few moments, leaning forward, and when she didn't pull away, slowly pressed his lips to hers. Suddenly, a crash outside broke them apart. "Students out of bed!" Peeves shrieked. Agnes and Sirius began to laugh. "Run!" Sirius smiled, and grabbed her hand tightly in his.
