A Fortune for a Shoe
Pull for 5 minutes, rest for 10. Pull for 5 minutes, rest for 10. This was becoming a vicious cycle that was solely bent on ripping Yuffie's arms out of their sockets. Yuffie let her burden drop to the ground with a soft whump. She flopped down on the ground beside it.
"Yeah, great idea Yuf. Brilliant. 'Oh I'll bring Sephiroth's Masamune back from the North Crater and sell it for loads of gil, so I can buy more material.'" Yuffie groaned and kicked the offending sword. "How in the planet did he ever lift this thing, no wonder Cloud had such an easy time kickin' his butt."
Yuffie rolled onto her back and stared up at the sky, which just happened to be covered by giant gray stormclouds. Yuffie's eyes widened. She jumped up and started dragging the sword with a renewed vigor. "Oh please Leviathan, don't let it rain on me."
Her pleas to the water deity however went unheard, for as soon as she finished speaking the heavens unleashed their fury upon the petite ninja. Yuffie's right eye twitched in annoyance as the once dry soil beneath her feet tunred into treacherous mud.
She trudged on, the Masamune growing harder to drag with each step. Yuffie rested for a moment and glared at everything and anything. She growled and stamped her foot in anger, only to have in sink in knee deep mud. No matter how hard she pulled, the mud refused to release her foot.
Yuffie, having a stroke of genious, stuck the end of the masamune into the ground, trying to use it as a lever to free her captured appendage. She grasped the hilt tightly and pulled herself upwards.
Her foot came flying out of the mud's grasp with such force she fell backwards into a very large mud puddle. Yuffie flicked mud off of her forehead. "Great, now I not only look like a drowned rat, but I look like a mud-monster as well. It can't get any worse than this."
The air crackled with electricity, as lightning sturck the ground only meters away from where she was sitting. Yuffie shrieked and started dragging the sword as fast as she could. Ignoring the fact that she only had one shoe.
2 hours later, as night was fast approaching, Yuffie saw the bright lights of Junon in the distance. Weary and bedraggled, Yuffie looked barely human covered in mud and who knows what. Yuffie smiled, thing of how much gil she would have. She could practically see her materia collection triple in her head.
And just before the darkness enveloped the landscape. The clouds parted and the sun cast it's last dying rays on a part of the Masamune that wasn't covered with mud. Causing it to glow as brightly as Yuffie's triumphant smile.
--FIN--
A/N- I wrote this really fast. It's not my best but I needed to post something since my other stories are moving so slow. I had fun writing this. I told my brother to give me a character, a weapon, and a weather condition. And this is what I came up with. Enjoy!
