Chapter THREE- A Not-So Worry Free Memory

"Desmond! DESMOND!"

Desmond Miles awoke with a sharp shock and very startled.

"What the hell just happened?"

Lucy was checking Desmond's vitals.

"I have no idea. Rebecca? Shaun? Can you help?"

"Can't help you out there Lucy. I designed this Animus to be completely fail proof. Nothing can crack this baby."

"It could be that this was not an intended memory for Ezio. I have no records that Ezio travelled through time or that DaVinci created a time machine or even recorded thinking of such a thing. I'll keep searching. If I find anything, I will let you know."

Thank you Shaun. Rebecca, try seeing if there's a problem with the system or the memory core. Please keep me updated."

"Will do."

Desmond and Lucy walked out of the sanctuary and to the ruins of Mario Auditore's office.

"Lucy. While I was in there, Fredrico Said that he was Ezio's only remaining descendant. How is that possible? Aren't I his final descendant?"

"Desmond, I can't answer anything right now. If you are indeed a direct descendant to Ezio, then that means Fredrico lived. but if in this memory, if we can get back in, Fredrico dies, then you would disappear from existence. We have no answers. I'm sorry."

Rebecca came running in.

"We found something! Come quick!"

Lucy, Rebecca and Desmond ran back into the sanctuary and followed Rebecca to the computer.

"There was a system in the memory core. It prevented any other Animus systems from using it. Abstergo is good. I give them that, but the program wasn't too hard to break. I got back in and we should be ready to go in about twenty minutes."

"Awesome. Shaun, did you find anything?"

"I did, actually. I found a very old hidden record of Leonardo that he did develop a time machine. It was useless in his eyes until a mentor of his decided to use it and he disappeared. Never to return. Leonardo destroyed the machine after that."

"Wonderful, Desmond, want to ask Shaun what you asked me?"

"Uhh, yea, I was wondering if Fredrico was the last descendant of Ezio, then what happens to me? Am I Ezio's only remaining descendant? Or did Fredrico die and should I even be here?"

"That's a rather good question, Desmond. You are a direct descendant of Altair and Ezio but you have to think of this. This is an uncharted memory for Ezio. If Fredrico dies that doesn't mean you'll disappear. It just mean he dies. We have to find more out about this memory to see what happens. When we do, then you'll get your true answer."

"Okay! Animus is all good to go! Ready to go again Desmond?"

"Yea. Lets get this over with."

Desmond layer down into the chair and was prepped for reentry into Ezio's life. All the while he thought what would happen. If Fredrico dies then he was sure that he would disappear from existence and all the work down by Lucy would be for nothing. He's just hoping the this doesn't happen.
