Words Don't Need to be Spoken

Annabeth was having a bad day. First, she stepped into a puddle and got her shoes all wet, then, she found out she had grabbed the wrong file for work, then, she spilt her food when she got lunch, and finally, she forgot to pay a bill for her and Percy's apartment.

Yeah, it was bad day indeed.

So when she stalked home, shoes still slightly damp, hungry, upset, and on the verge of weeping right there in the street, she took comfort in the fact that her boyfriend would be there, waiting for her return. He would make things better. He always did.

She opened the door and slipped her shoes off. She dropped her bags and slipped off her coat. She entered the living room to see Percy on the couch watching TV.

"Hey Wise Girl," He called.

She didn't say anything as she slipped into their bedroom and changed into her sweats. She then walked back out to Percy and wordlessly crawled onto his lap.

Percy didn't say anything as he wrapped his arms around her. He knew nothing needed to be said. He had seen her coming in and she didn't look happy.

Annabeth sniffled and snuggled closer to him. She craned her head up and gave him a peck on his jaw before resting her head in the crook of his neck.

She closed her eyes happily. This was what she needed. She just needed the reassurance that someone was on her side today, that someone still cared about her. She needed love, and love was what she got from Percy. He never gave her anything less.

It was there, in his arms, saying nothing, that she felt at home. It was there that she felt her problems slip away into nothingness.

Yes, no words needed to be spoken for Percy to understand what she needed.

"Thank you," He heard her whisper, her breath tickling his neck.

But sometimes, words needed to be spoken so he could understand what she was feeling, and he knew exactly what she meant with those two words.

Percy merely planted a kiss on her forehead and tightened his arms around her, promising her that he would never leave.

He would always be there, ready to help her with her problems, even when words didn't need to be spoken.
