Prologue
A small blonde woman stood on a grassy hill overlooking a large castle. Her blue eyes slowly glanced around the realm of the vampires, which she ruled. The woman closed her eyes and tilted her face up towards the large moon which was the only thing that lit the realm. A large black raven flew over head and landed at the woman's feet.
"Hello Raven" She said keeping her eyes closed.
The bird shifted into a man. He knelt before the woman and asked, "You sent for me Devi?"
Devi opened her eyes. "As a matter of fact I did." She turned away from the castle and Raven. She looked upon her realm and sighed. "I am afraid my dear that I must leave."
Raven sprang to his feet. "No! I mean High Lady you cannot leave us. You cannot leave me. What will we do without a leader.
Devi kept her back to Raven. "That is why I brought you here Raven." She slowly turned and looked at him. "I am giving you everything. I want you to take my place. Just for awhile. Someday I you will return everything to me. I am not sure how many years it will be but I trust you will know when and where. Until then you will not breathe a word of this to anyone, even me. You always do the right thing. That is why I love you Raven." Devi kissed Raven passionately letting her hand slip down his chest. She let her hand rest over his heart. Devi then channeled all of her power through her hand and into Raven's chest, filling him with her power. Devi fell to the ground gasping. Raven gasped and held his shaking hand out to Devi, who refused to take it.
"E-everything is yours now." She said weakly. "I have now entrusted you with my people, my power and everything I stand for. Take care of it Raven." Devi weakly stood up and saluted Raven, before transforming into a beautiful albino raven. She took off it flight away from the place she once called home and onto a new life.
Raven watched as she disappeared into the dark sky. His sharp eyes strained to watch the white bird as far as he could. He took a deep breath and turned to the now empty castle. Which was now his castle knowing no matter how many people filled its halls, the place would feel empty without Devi.
