Once upon a time in a land far far away Edward and Belly were evil magic vampire poly-elemental daemons, capable of destroying entire villages alone. Thankfully, their thirst for blood could often be quenched with only a few poor souls being spared, so mass slaughters were infrequent, saved for once or twice a century. It helped the vampire daemons in love keep a low profile. They had a love hate relationship with their companions. Much like the present day "enlightened" human now knows, that animals left to roam free taste best. As such, the vampire preferred similar free-range method for Humans. They were allowed to roam, within limits, throughout the world for the most part. Though they vast in their numbers, tremendously more plentiful compared to the few humans, and never posed a serious threat to the vampires.
