Hey there! I wrote this thing last summer, but it was weak and petered out awkwardly to the end... I've only just now been able to revise it into something usable. I may use this for DCC '13 in the costume contest.
There's a shadow over Gotham, a watchful defense
With dark, unfolding wings and falcon-keen sense
He preys upon the criminals, wherever they may lurk
But in mercy, never murders –
– SO IT DOESN'T FUCKING WORK!
I am the Red Hood, back from the dead, back in your face
Wait 'til the shadow over Gotham learns who's running the place
Controlling crime is easier than I'd been led to believe
With a duffel bag full of heads it's surprising what you can achieve
Since I've been in the Hood, nobody speaks a hasty word of me
The name is Jason, motherfucker – maybe you've heard of me?
The pit restored my body, but pain restored my mind
Do you think I was pleased to return here and find
the scum that took me from you, safe and alive in his pen
when we both know he'll escape again and again and again
To fill entire graveyards; torture and cripple friends –
How is it so hard for you to bring it to an end?
Your moral code's a sad joke, I'm breaking it tonight
Against your greatest failure, two guns make a right
So you can end me, or I can end the clown –
Need some help with the concept?
It's a final countdown.
What do you think? Constructive criticism is welcomed, though of course the fact that this is written rather than performed may make the rhythm hard to grasp.
