To most of the boys and girls at Hogwarts, Su Li was a girl that nobody noticed. In fact, most of them didn't even know she existed at all. She was simply…there, a blank face on the edge of most people's awareness.
Padma Patil was ashamed to admit that until several months ago, she was one of those people who never really saw Su Li. She was just the girl in the bed at the end of the dorm, just another body at Hogwarts.
Until she fell in love with the petite Korean girl.
It started when Padma kissed Su Li at the annual Christmas party at the Ministry.
No, it started when the two of them were assigned to work together on the same project at the Department of Mysteries.
No, it started when Padma and Su Li had found themselves fighting side by side during the Battle of Hogwarts, working together in almost perfect unison.
No, it started when the two girls found themselves hiding away in a classroom, crouched up next to one another as they tried to avoid Amycus Carrow, who was more than happy to leer and make lewd comments to the older female students and seemed to get a kick out of torturing them in particular
Actually Padma wasn't sure when it started, when she realised that she was in love with Su Li. Nor did it really matter, for as far as Padma was concerned, it was one mystery that could remain unsolved. All that mattered was how they felt for one another, when they held hands out on dates, when they kissed and held on to one another and how they made love to one another on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
And as Padma lay in bed with Su Li, stroking her lover's hair, she allowed herself a small smile. Love really was the most powerful force of all.
