Prologue: Janitor for Hire!
I hoped a T-shirt and paint covered overalls were acceptable for Ouran Academy. Maybe not for a student, but for a janitor, right? Fuck no! Apparently you have to dress up just for an interview for the position of a janitor. At least that was the mental message I was getting as Miss Sakimoto, the interviewer, stared me down with her sharp eyes intensified by her squared glasses. And the funny thing was she didn't even ask any questions yet.
"Miss Bront, was it?"
"Bront-ee. Madison Bronte," I corrected. She narrowed her eyes even more, which honestly didn't seem possible, but she did it.
"Anyway Miss Bront," resisting urge to glare, "you've just graduated high school last spring right?" I nodded, "so why look for a job so soon?"
"Living on my own. I gotta support myself," which was partially the reason. Honestly, I was putting off college. I'm mean I didn't know what I wanted to do so why waste loads of money when I was still unsure?
She wrote that down on the clipboard cradled in her arms.
"Your name is British, correct?"
"American," I replied. She simply waved her hand.
"Whichever. But how did you learn to speak Japanese so well?"
"Because my dad's business sent him here when I was three." After that the questions continued and I began to feel like I was being interrogated. Hell, it was an interrogation. But I answered them all hoping that that stupid old bit-person would give me the job.
By the end of the interview Miss Sakimoto sat down across from me and gave me a hard look. Then a sweet smile grace her hard face. That 'run for cover' feeling settled down in the pits of my stomach and I braced myself for the bad news.
"Well, as I'm sure you know this is a prestigious school and even though I'm sure the rank of cleaning girl would fit you ever so well, we can not afford such people, who could possibly ruin our reputation. So I'm saddened to say that we can not-"
BAM! Someone slammed open the door. A tall boy with bright blonde hair and lavender eyes strutted in, over to us.
"Lovely Miss Sakimoto, I was just walking by when I heard your conversation with the beautiful young lady-"
"You mean eavesdropping," I intervened, but he just ignored me.
"-and I was horrified! How could you be so cold! Even commoners have feelings too!" he put his hand to his eyes dramatically like it was the worst thing that could happen to a person. I was kinda annoyed with his commoner statement, but Miss Sakimoto seemed to respect him, a student, enough to actually listen, so I kept my opinion to myself.
Miss Sakimoto rubbed her temples and said very calmly, "Mr. Suo, this girl-"
"Would do wonders for our school! How about it Miss? Would you like a job here?" He asked, staring at me with sparkling eyes.
"Yes," I need it to survive, "I would. Thank you!" I replied, sending an evil grin over at Miss Sakimoto.
"Congratulations! You are now the personal janitor of Ouran's High School Host Club!"
I blinked. "I'm what?"
