(facepalm) Well, I had to try. I mean, somebody had to. There's so little for this pairing I decided to post this as a separate entry even though I'm not very proud of it. Maybe I should stick to WEVE.
Of course, last time I had a bad attitude about a fic, you guys disagreed with me, so who knows? Reviews are appreciated.
WALL-E belongs to Pixar, not me.
An Old Earth Recipe
By Netbug009
"You have got to try this!"
Mary stared at the small, brown square that her husband was holding in front of her, eyebrow raised. "Uh... What-"
"You know those cocoa beans that they started growing a while ago?" John asked quite enthusiastically.
"Yeah... and this looks nothing like those."
"It's crushed up and they added some milk and sugar to it."
"Beans, milk, and sugar?"
"They found the recipe in some of the old Earth books."
"John, I'm not sure."
"Hey, I tried it and liked it. Do you trust me?" He gave her a smile, and it never failed to capture her. Of course she trusted him. More than anybody in the whole world. Was that even a question?
"...Okay, let me have it." She put out a hand expectantly, and he instead put it directly in her mouth. She blinked and let it sit in her mouth.
There was a pause, but then Mary closed her eyes and smiled. It was the strangest thing she had ever tasted, and one of the best. It wasn't like any of the other plants she had eaten, no matter how much they had been crushed or cooked or messed with. It took over her whole mouth, and yet she couldn't figure out a word for it, so she simply asked him for the word. He happily told her and started explaining all the cool stuff that could be done with the old marvel. When he was done with the briefing, she thanked him with a hand hold and a peck on the cheek.
And that's how John and Mary became two of the first people in 700 years to eat chocolate.
