Pokahface (Racetrack Higgins One-shot)
I don't own Newsies in any way. Inspired by...do I even need to say?
I was playing against Brooklyn in a poker game.
Spot brought in a girl. "Dis is me best pokah playah in Bwooklyn, Spades", Spot said.
"Ready ta lose Higgins?" she asked.
The boys placed bets and such and I dealt out the cards.
"Ready ta lose Manhattan?" she asked.
I layed my cards down, then she layed hers down.
She beat me! She collected her winnings and said, "Pleasure doin' business wit youse Manhattan. Come on Spotty. Ise can see dat Bwooklyn isn' wanted around heah".
"Come on Spot! Spades!" Jack yelled, "Come back in and have a few drinks befoa youse leave".
"Fine", she said.
Jack sat her down next to me.
"Come on Higgins. Don' be upset dat Ise beat youse", she said, "It was jist a lucky hand".
"Where did youse loin such a good pokahface?" I asked her.
"Ise was concentratin' on sometin' else", she said.
"May Ise ask what?" I asked her.
"What Ise was gonna do if wese stayed", she said.
"And dat would be?" I asked.
She grabbed my vest and placed her lips on mine.
I deepened it.
We were so into the kiss that I didn't notice that she was slowly pushing me down on my back. Her lips made their way to my neck.
I've never had a girl kiss my neck before.
"Ise love da way youse smell. Youse always smell like cigar smoke and the racetrack", she said.
"Is dat a good ting?" I asked her.
"Ise told youse Ise love it, didn' Ise?" she asked.
"Well yes…but", I said.
"Race, Race, Race. Shut-up and kiss me already", she said.
I leaned up and kissed her.
"Spades, time ta go", Spot called.
"Stay", I begged.
"Ise can' Race", she said. She kissed me one last time, before getting off of me.
I sat up.
"Bye Manhattan. See youse at da next pokah night", she said smiling.
I had just found out two things. One, I don't mind losing a poker game to a girl…as long as that girl is Spades and two, I suddenly loved Brooklyn and couldn't wait for the next poker night.
