Remus awoke in the hospital wing. He looked around to find Madame Pomfrey, but, instead, found Severus Snape sitting on a nearby bed halfheartedly reading TheTales of Beedle the Bard.
"What happened?"
"You passed out while teaching one of your classes. It must be your time of the month. Did you take your 'pill'?" The wretched man always had something snide to say.
"Where's Madame Pomfrey?"
"She is at a Mediwitch conference. And everyone else is busy planning the Christmas Party, so I got stuck with you."
"You can leave. I don't need a baby sitter." Remus just wanted to be left alone.
"You must be kidding. If I leave this room I am going to get sucked into a dreadful argument about what has more holiday cheer: strawberry ice cream or tapioca. I would rather try to perform magic with a rubber chicken."
Remus chuckled at the image. Snape glared, "Perhaps you would like me to tell them you are feeling well enough to join the Party Planning Committee?"
"That won't be necessary," Remus said and quickly checked his laughter.
Remus wasn't sure, but he thought he heard his companion mumble something that sounded like "Imbecile" under his breath.
"So, why are you reading that anyway?" Remus asked, indicating the book.
"Believe it or not, I needed to do something other than admire you while you slept."
Remus blushed, "But why that book?"
"I found it lying in the Great Hall. It was published back in the time of the Founders."
"Did your mommie used to read it to you?" Remus couldn't help antagonizing the potions master. Maybe it was his 'time of the month'.
"Don't talk about things you don't know. If you keep harassing me I might let it slip that Potter has your precious map." The threat didn't bother Remus as mush as the look in Severus' eyes. The black orbs were quaking like a beginning thunderstorm.
"I didn't mean it. Take it easy, Severus." Remus was playing with the elastic band of his boxer in anxiously.
"I would rather go find a present for Dumbledore than sit around and get antagonized by you. Perhaps some sunglasses will do." With that the lithe man got up and left the room. Remus heard from the hall, "And expect the Party Planning Committee to be paying you a visit."
