Author's Note: these two are my adventure time otp. I've been wanting to do this fanfic for a while now. You know, the whole "Burning Low" episode thing, but I mean, here I am, doing that, when this never actually happened with FP in the comics, but so what? I bet someone's did this whole "Burning Low" thing before too, but I don't care. I wanna do it my own way. C:
I don't own the characters, and the episode isn't mine either.
burning low
(we've got the roles of sleeping beauty all wrong.)

Shouts of "No!" and "stop!" ring a chorus in her ears, but it's really too late for her to care. The silly poem she wrote for him is burned, and their lips touch.
She can only taste warmth and coal and melting chocolate under the horrible burning sensation, but even so, kissing him is probably the best thing that could happen to her right now.
Gumball - the boy she thought she had said her final farewell too - was the one shouting, and the second after their lips press, the second after she tastes warmth and coal and melting chocolate, Flame Prince burns intensely and the world around her pretty much explodes. Fionna kind of gets why he told them to stop.
It really hurt. She's entirely sure her lips and part of her face have been burned.
She is burning up, Cake is worrying and Gumball has known this would happen all along. Fionna gets herself up, realizing that her prince has burned a hole through the earth.
And he is down in the bottom of it. It always has to be fucking difficult, doesn't it?
She crawls over it, tying Cake's limbs to her own, crawling down the hole in search of that boy that she's - dare she say it, or will she be cursed again? - probably in love with.
Cake can't take the struggle of the weight, and she falls, desperate and upset, on top of the hole, sealing the girl and the prince inside of it. They sit on the core, Cake tells Gumball that 'it's really hot' Gumball tells Cake to move right now because she will deprive the poor Flame Prince of oxygen and he will go out and die. Cake is shouting about Fionna, as if Gumball has forgotten the poor heroine trapped with the fire elemental.
Inside the hole, Fionna shouts his name when she sees him, his fiery, orange skin now a light blue color. Fionna can barely breathe, her vision is going dreary and blurry and she can barely tell that the prince is there.
"I need you to be okay! Please be okay!"
And with that, her artificial respiration process begins. She struggles because she can't even breath herself, and dear glob, how can she help someone else breathe? His lips don't hurt as much, and they still taste of coal, warmth, and melting chocolate. She can't tell if she saw flames because she passed out, her oxygen supply finally giving way and crumbling.
Cake pulls her and the prince up, her body burnt from being slid all over his burning one, and she wakes up near him, almost in his arms.
(because it really would hurt if actually she was.)
She only asks if he's okay, and he smiles that smile - the one that makes her blush and flustered - and says he's okay.
They are together again, after all.

the end
(it was only the kiss of life.)
