Inspired by WishingFire's 100 theme challenge 23 - Rejection
Her mind couldn't take it; her body either, for that matter.
Too many memories that weren't hers, flooding in too quickly. Her mind wouldn't accept it. In fact, it rejected it.
She didn't have much longer before her body would completely shutdown. She had to play her part before that happened.
Riku told her what would happen either way and gave her the choice. Xion knew what he wanted, but wouldn't force her choose that.
She knew which the right choice was. Sora would come back, save the worlds. Roxas and Axel could live without memories of her…probably wouldn't miss her. Riku would get his happily ever after…unless he remembered her and what she did for him.
Xion felt it. Her body was shutting down; rejecting Sora's memories.
"Thank you, Riku…" She whispered. "I'm glad…I got to meet you…And of course, Axel too." A smiled danced with her voice as it faded away with the memories she was made of.
She'd miss her boys…but…if they would be happier, then she would suffer through it, this rejection of memories.
