Some Taang stuff that I wrote up last night. This is for Daybear who so kindly requested this piece. I tried, and I probably failed. Sorry, hon.

Mother Knows Best
Katara could see it. There are just somethings a "mother" sees that no one else can see. She didn't need Toph's super senses to tell that the young earthbender liked Aang. And, as the days went on, Katara could see the small airbender showing feelings in return.
It all started when she and Zuko came back from their trip to find Yon Rha. The two younger ones seemedcloser than they were before. Katara asked Suki about it and the Kyoshi Warrior told her all about what they did while she was gone. Katara was told that they bonded over the past few days.
It was funny to see them together all the time. They were practically complete opposites, but opposites are known to attract.
Aang would worry about the former champion in his Aang-y way ans she would brush him off, but not before tinting pink at the cheeks - only Katara noticed that. Most of the others were oblivious to it.
After that horrible disaster of a play - and Katara's rejection to Aang (she still felt terrible about that, by the way) - they were even closer. When Aang had disappeared right before the comet, Toph was worried. Katara could see this through the translucent veil the eaethbender put up to hide her feelings. She truly cared for Aang - and Aang cared for her in return.
So, while Sokka was surprised when Toph marched right up to Aang, smacked him, and ten fiercely took the airbender's lips with her own, Katara wasn't, because - well - "Mother" always knows best.
