GundumPilot00: This is my seccond fanfic, but my first D N Angel fan fic. I hope you enjoy it. Oh, by the way I don't own anything here ..
Stars twinkled in the sky like individual jewels, each with their own hue and shape. Their value, much like the value of souls, is indescribable. From time to time everyone looks up into the vast darkness and searches for their star, hoping that it will solve their problems. Most problems are impossible to fix, so the wishes go un-granted and the person feels lost.
Jean lie on her back in the middle of the roof of the apartment building her and her father currently lived in. Her wish and dream that she searched for was one of the impossible ones. The emptiness that gaped in her heart was a problem that only she could fix. Her mind pushed the problem on to her missing mother, she never met her but feeling of need was still there. The void would be greater to fill if she had an answer to the disappearance of her mother, but her father refused to talk about it.
She sighed and searched the night sky harder, wondering if her mother was up there with the stars. The soft tap of two feet startled Jean out of her thoughts. She sat up and scanned the blackened roof top. A couple yards away from where she sat a dark figure of a man stood, looking out across the city. He was tall and slender, but strength emanated from his body. He moved slightly with the grace that was unearthly. The shadows on his face could not hide the fact that he was overwhelmingly handsome. Small wispy clouds in the sky moved out from under the moon, causing radiant beams to pour down upon the figure, revealing a black void that hovered behind him.
Jean gasped. The man tuned to face her. His movements caused the black cloud behind him to take shape. A ghostly white light glistened on black feathers of angelic wings that protruded from his back. A light breeze caressed his face and played in his midnight dark hair. His yellow eyes sparkled like the jewels in the sky.
He took a silent step forward. His movements were as swift as the shadows in the night. Jean stood up and back away slowly. His face came into view as he stepped closer. It was not the face Jean expected from an angel or a prince charming. It was soft with a gentle glow that reflected evil; it excited Jean and scared her. He smiled a smile of slight recognition and continued closer as Jean retreated. Her feet reached the end of the building and her legs bumped into the ledge, sending her falling. A strong hand clasped her and feathers flew. Within moments, she and the winged man were high in the air. His thick arms held her close and they continued to rise.
Jean tilted her head up to his face, a warm smile stretched across it. He looked at her then into her brilliant blue eyes.
"Are you alright?" His voice was deep and soothing. It reminded Jean of the gentle roaring of a beautiful waterfall.
"I think so." Her face flushed and she looked down. Her eyes opened wide and a soft shriek escaped her lips. Her feet where miles above the city.
"Don't be frightened, Princess. I'll never drop you." He kissed the top of her head and the started to descend. She hid her face in his chest and listened to his smooth, calm breathing and the steady beat of his heart. Her mind slipped into the total bliss of sleep.
