Epilogue
It's now 1985. A lot of things have changed, but a lot of things stayed the same, too. A lot of things happened in the twenty years that have passed. The years had gone by really fast, though. I had lost Johnny and Dallas a long time ago, but I still had plenty of people to hang around with. Sometimes I wish I could go back and be a kid again, but sometimes I like being an adult just fine. I started to think about everyone I knew. I know I should be thinking about what to write for my next book, but I had plenty of time for that anyway.
Ponyboy
I was sitting at my desk, trying to think of what to write. I had become an author because I was a pretty good writer and I had decided to go for it. I'm now thirty four years old. I still haven't gotten married. I'll find myself a wife eventually, though. So far, I have written twelve books and they have all been published.
I was pretty proud of myself for that, and so are my brothers. I'm so glad that the whole greasers and socs thing is done for me. I still see it going on with the kids in my neighborhood. I even saw a greaser kid get jumped a couple days ago. It's kind of lonely for me, since I live alone now. I really miss Darry and Soda sometimes, especially Soda.
Darry
Darry is forty years old now and still working hard. He still has the same job. He got married to a girl named Kathy. She's a pretty nice looking girl, and Darry seems to think so too. I do miss him sometimes, and I stop over to say hi. They have a kid named Haley.
Soda
Soda is thirty six years old. He still works at the DX gas station. He also got married, even though he never got to marry Sandy, he didn't give up. He's married to a girl named Anna. He loves her a lot, and they have two kids named Mary and Gregg. I really miss Soda, and I visit him a lot, and he said, "Why don't you just live here, Ponyboy? Or should I say Ponyman?" I just laughed.
Two-Bit
Two-Bit is thirty eight years old. He got married to a really pretty blonde girl named Susie. Boy, did he get what he wanted. He might look different now, but he still likes to tell jokes a lot. He's got his own TV show, too. The funny thing about his wife, is that she never calls him Two-Bit. She always calls him Keith, but he doesn't care.
Steve
Steve is thirty seven years old. He's not married. He owns his own car shop now. He's still friends with Sodapop, so he visits him sometimes. Now, he actually doesn't hate me so much. We're actually starting to get along a little bit.
Cherry
Cherry is thirty six years old. She never got over the death of Bob, so she never got married. She is still friends with that other girl Marcia. She got a job as a guidance counselor at a school so that she could help people avoid fights and get along. I see her every once in a while and she read my books. She told me that I did a good job.
Yep, so that is everyone that I can think of at the moment. I really need to get back to my book now. I sat there for about five minutes, not thinking of anything at all. Aw, what the heck. I'll get back to this later and go visit Soda now. I haven't visited him for a while anyways.
