An exhilarating pull began somewhere in his belly or chest; Rei wasn't quite sure.
All of a sudden, the world spun and turned, and he was half-laying on top of the man that he'd just tackled as he shifted to get off of him.
His skin tingled a little from where he'd hit the ground too hard, but all that he could see for a moment was the man across from him: one of Samezuka's boys, spread on the ground before shifting to the proper position and staring at the ground, looking every bit ashamed of being tackled or perhaps just ashamed of being Rei's first tackle.
Rei crawled to his feet and felt the most excited whoosh escape his throat in a mad flurry and suddenly he was cheering, feeling his veins tickle with unresolved adrenaline as he cheered, ignoring the audience that began to boo after hearing his first cheer.
His mind was still lost in the rush of tackling his first ever person before he felt a nudge to his hips and saw a slight smirk on Nagisa's face, "Rei-chan, it's time to ruck." The blond moved into position, claiming the center spot as Rei didn't yet move as Makoto claimed the left spot, and finally Rei moved into position, feeling some of his exhilaration stop to focus back on the game that he just began to love.
Rei wrapped an arm around Nagisa, clutching him tight and close as he pushed with everything he had against the other team's players that thankfully did not start the ruck before Rei joined in.
He breathed deeply, feeling the rush of adrenaline that took back over his senses, and thrilled when finally they pushed Samezuka off and got the ball.
Rei immediately had his team's back as Nagisa took off, Rugby ball in hand, and wondered if this was how games would go from now on.
His veins still sung from within as he ran and kept up, watching the other team, and watching Nagisa.
He felt tempted to cheer again despite the fact that he was sure that he'd gotten in trouble from cheering previously as Nagisa managed to make a try.
Rei smiled though they'd lost the game when Makoto complimented him just after the social with Samezuka, "You made your first tackle. Good job." He thankfully didn't say anything about Rei being penalized for cheering at all.
"It felt beautiful." He took a deep breath and tried to come up with the proper way to describe it, but none of the books that he read described how it felt or even attempted to detail that experience on a personal level.
"It does." Hummed Nagisa as he playfully nudged Rei.
Nagisa had previously pulled off his jersey and his shirt which was something that no matter how much Rei sweated, he refused to do as he tried not to eye Nagisa's muscular frame as the blond smiled up at him.
"Just try to do that in practice without the cheering." Haru muttered as he stared at the leftover food that he'd kept on himself from the social; it wasn't mackerel, and you can just tell that Haru wasn't sure he wanted to eat it.
He'd ate fruit at the social despite looking miserable at the lack of mackerel and now handled his slice of pizza like it was something grotesque.
Rei ignored his incredulity at the sight of Haru glumly staring at a slice of pepperoni pizza as he turned to the rest of his teammates and hoped that he'd be a lot better at tackling at their next few practices and their next game.
