I don't own InuYasha. This is cause for many tears.

There are times when he is brash or hurtful, and there are times when he could be considered mean and cruel, or even heartless.
But InuYasha is the most forgiving person on the planet.
I should know.
After all, he forgave me.
When I first met him I had done nothing but attack him, with both my weapons and my words. Not once did he retaliate, even in self defense. Looking back, I can easily see where he could have killed me with little more than the flick of a wrist but... he didn't. I didn't deserve that treatment, not after what I had done to him, but he gave it to me anyways.
It took me a month to apologize.
"You've done nothing wrong," He'd said. For a minute I thought that he hadn't understood what I was talking about so I elaborated.
He looked at me like I was being stupid by saying anything.
"Sango," he had reiterated with a firm hand on my shoulder, "You have done nothing wrong. There is nothing to apologize for."
I nodded and walked away, still not quite sure what he meant. Of course I had done something wrong! I had attacked him first and asked questions later, something that my father had always warned against.
I was miserable, but I didn't work up the courage (however meager it ended up being,) to ask his forgiveness again until about three weeks later.
He had looked exasperated and threw his hands in the air, "I don't understand why you're pushing this!"
I'd become angry at his remark, and the familiar emotion ran hot through my veins, lacing itself into my words like the barbed stem of a rose.
"Why won't you just forgive me already?"
His gaze immediately snapped to mine, surprised, and I closed my eyes, determined not to let him see my shame. I didn't hear him come closer to stand in front of me, nor did I hear the whisper of his sleeve as his hands moved to grip my upper arms. I did, however, feel them when they lighted, and I looked to his face accordingly.
His jawline was hard, like he was clenching his teeth, and his brow was drawn, but his touch was gentle, and his golden eyes were soft. His voice was quiet when he spoke, and his words made my eyes fill with tears.
"There was never anything to forgive. What you did wasn't your fault; it was Naraku's." The corner of his lips quirked into a microscopic smile, "I forgave you before I even knew your name."
He made a quick exit, startled and unsettled by my tears, but not before I could wrap my arms around his neck in a hug that he awkwardly returned. As he leaped into the trees I smiled and whispered after him, not entirely sure if he could hear me.
"Thank you, InuYasha."
