A/N: My first attempt at anything remotely resembling angst! Drabble-and-a-half (155 words and do you have any idea how hard it is for me to be concise! It's absolute torture!) And you can figure out who the characters mentioned are if you look veeery closely . . . -squints- . . . yep they're in there.
A/N2: "100 starting lines" from the WPBA forum. Line #106: "Why can't you follow orders?"
------------------------------------------------------------
Why can't you follow orders?
Why did you always have to be the daredevil?
You could have prevented this.
You didn't have to stay behind when it got bad.
You didn't have to help them.
You didn't have to be the hero.
You brought your team home, but at what cost?
I don't know whether to be furious at you or not.
Because you're not the only one at fault.
I could have prevented this.
I didn't have to send you, this didn't have to happen.
We could have just walked away.
But that's not what happened.
What happened was you stayed a moment too long.
What happened was you didn't even know you'd been shot until you came back.
What happened was you died in my arms.
Now Atlantis has lost her greatest friend.
Earth has lost one of its best commanders.
And I have lost the best thing that's ever happened to me.

A/N: -sniffles-
A/N2: Okay I'm alright now. So was it totally, completely, and in all other ways inconceivable? . . . uh . . . oops. Channeling movie characters again . . . I meant to say incomprehensible but Wally wouldn't let me :)
