Once upon a time a sow had three grown kids. It was time for them to leave the nest and live their lives, for she was not able to care for them anymore. She was old and sick and she knew she didn't have long to live.

To her oldest son, she gave bricks. "Build yourself a house and be safe and protected from the dangers of nature", said she.

To her second son, she gave wood. "Although it is not as solid as bricks, build yourself a house and be safe and protected form the dangers of nature", said she.

When it came to her youngest son, she didn't have anything else to give but a couple of straw bales. Hopeful that her word would turn out true , she said to her son: " Build yourself a house and be safe and protected from the dangers of nature."

The tree sons departed and went their way. Within seven days, their houses were built. That same night, it started raining.

The oldest son was warm in his brick house and didn't even notice that it had rained all night.

The second son was protected from the rain in his wooden cabin, but was cold for he couldn't lit a fire or else the cabin would burst into flames.

The youngest son was soon drenched in is straw hut. He was cold and two feet deep in mud.

For three days it rained and for three days he got cold and wet.

The third day, he went to his brother in the wooden cabin and asked for shelter. "Brother, I am wet and I am cold in my straw hut, for the wind passes through the stray and the water floods the floor. Please grant me shelter."

"I shall not! Mother gave the wood to me and me alone. It is not my fault you couldn't make a shelter out of your straw", said the brother. He closed the door in his youngest brother's face.

He continued his way and went to his older brother in the brick house and asked for shelter. "Brother, I am wet and I am cold in my straw hut, for the wind passes through the stray and the water floods the floor. Please grant me shelter."

"I shall not! Mother gave the bricks to me and me alone. It is not my fault you couldn't make a shelter out of your straw", said the brother. He closed the door in his youngest brother's face.

For a third night in a row, he slept in two feet of mud and water and the wind chilled him. But he devised a plan. He would go to his brother's house disguised as a wolf. If his brother doesn't grant him shelter, he shall eat him up and take possession of the house.

On the fourth day, he appeared at his brother's wooden cabin door. "Grant me shelter", demanded he.

His brother responded: "No wolf, you shall eat me during the night, I will let you past the threshold."

"No, I shall eat you now." And the wolf pounced of the pig and ate him in one bite.

He spent the night in a dry cabin sheltered from the rain, but was cold. He endured this situation but three days and decided he shall be more comfortable in his older brother's brick house.

The next day, he appeared at his brother's brick house's door dressed as a wolf. "Grant me shelter", demanded he.

His brother responded: "No wolf, you shall eat me during the night, I will let you past the threshold."

"No, I shall eat you now." And the wolf pounced of the pig and ate him in one bite.

He spent the night in the house, sheltered from the rain and warm. He had everything he wanted, yet he felt an emptiness in his chest. Something was missing. All his relations were dead and he was alone in the world.

He spent the last of his days as a hermit, living a comfortable but very lonely life.
