(Not at all tied into the Danmachi storyline. Or atleast I don't think so at least. Thought of this randomly while listening to a song. The last paragraph tho... Enjoy!)

While we were on our last legs, broken and defeated. All we could think about was why we were even fighting in the first place. The flames of war had engulfed Orario and the surrounding areas. Most who fought had already been massacred in ways that I had not imagined possible. The proverbial guillotine rest taught over our necks, taunting us to try something.

What was the point in even trying? Only death awaited us whether we struggled or not.

But when we looked up, the lights flickering out of our eyes, what we saw astounded us.

Bell Kranel.

How could he keep fighting?

Is he not afraid?

Why?

But the longer we watched him fight, struggling to breathe, we saw it. His eyes were filled with boundless determination that reminded us of the heroes of old. Unwilling to step down even if it means dying.

Me and the other adventurers looked at one another in shame. How could we have forgotten about what we had fought so hard to achieve? If we gave up there, all our hopes rested on him, the one who had almost no motive to defend us and Orario after what we had done to him.

What we saw in him was hope.

A white light that pierced the everlasting darkness. A true hero of the times.

How could we just give up?

It seemed I was not the only one with that notion. The surrounding adventures now had a spark in their eyes. With the spark that was Bell Kranel, we stood back up battered and bruised. Our will ironclad and our hearts unperturbed. We refused to lie down like dogs and keel over. No, for that is not what it meant to be an adventurer.

Bell Kranel is the example all aspiring adventurers strived to be. Compassionate and determined. To fight for his city, his people, and his life.

For what is an adventurer if not reckless and adventurous?

You gotta get back up from the wrecked above and walk right through the fire. No matter what happens, the fact is that the flames keep getting higher. You got keep it going, keep tiptoeing, through the fire and flames, and the pain of knowing. Through all this time gotta keep on going. Gotta give that spark, gotta keep on glowing.

Always remember.
